IDG Global Solutions is the centralised services division of International Data Group (IDG), the world's largest technology, media, events and research company.
i-KOS were commissioned to reconceive their website with the goal of providing a dedicated centre of excellence for marketing departments in 90 international markets.
Understanding IGS Users
Workshops were held with key stakeholders from US and EMEA to understand who the key users of the site are and what infomation, features and content is important to them. Persona's were heavily used to distinguish different roles within common groups.
In many cases a pivotal role of the UX department is to plan for the users whilst marrying up the needs and wants of different stakeholders. International Datagroup Global Solutions has a myriad of products, services, networks & hubs, publications and websites represented in over 90 countries.
i-KOS used wireframing to rapidly prototype the key sections of the sites which went through numerous itterations and ultimately helped shape, what we refer to as the 'eight pillars' of IDG; highlighted on the home page and throughout the site.

i-KOS distribution 'StartPoint' for Drupal 6 was used for the build.
Custom CRM integration & Drupal Taxonomy
The IDG product directory (www.idgglobalsolutions.com/product-directory) contains the media pack details for more than 200 magazines and 300 websites. i-KOS worked with IDG's in-house developers to integrate with their CRM application including a nightly Cron to auto-publish any updates or additions.
With Drupal were were able to bring this information to life by using Drupal's taxonomy and search to allow browsing and filtering based on geo-location, audience profile, language, title and publication sector.
At the time of writing i-KOS have been commissioned to plan phase II deliverables including an extranet for their 90 markets.
