Web Applications and Rich Media
Today's web is about providing the best experience for the user and about interacting with multiple systems. Things that were specialised development projects five years ago are now taken for granted. It's just expected that your website will integrate with Twitter, Facebook and their counterparts. Google provides amazing free tools that you can use to enhance your site with maps and geolocation technology. Content management systems were just an enterprise level necessity back in 2000 - now even the smallest site can be managed by you - not the agency.
Our Chosen Technology - Drupal
We've been down the road of creating our own proprietary systems and enjoyed the benefits of generating income from license fees. However that business model, in our opinion, is over. The rate of change in the web 'industry' means that even a large agency cannot sustain this approach. As William (Bill) Bernbach; a legendary figure in the history of American advertising said; "A principle is not a principle until it costs you money."
In 2008 we began the complete migration from developing our own CMS (SiteSolved) to join the Open Source Drupal platform and abandon the license model we had spent the previous eight years building. Today all of our web development projects are built on Drupal; one of the world's leading web application platforms with the large development community who, together, continuously improving the product. For i-KOS, it's like having a team of 1000 developers. Drupal is a flexible platform that allows us to achieve almost any desired result on the web.
Our mantra is now "if you understand what you want to achieve, it's usually possible". Clear understanding of the problem is the most important thing - not the technical implementation.
Integration
Many of our projects now call for integration with other systems. We have successfully completed integration projects with Adobe Air and various commercial and bespoke Accounting and Stock Inventory (inc. MRP and ERP systems)
Secure Reliable eCommerce
i-KOS is a SagePay Partner in recognition of the high volume of eCommerce transactions being delivered through client websites. Our customer need fast reliable credit/debit car processing allowing them to focus on delivering excellent service. We have built over a dozen websites using Drupal and Ubercart.
R&D
We're committed to our chosen technology and also driving it forward in the community. We have one member of staff whose time is 100% allocated to improving the Drupal platform and others who put in their own time with the same goals.
